My Attempt at Making a Miracle Happen

A couple of days ago, I asked for your ideas on how I could create a miracle for my husband in order to get a new guitar for him. I received several comments and emails full of great ideas and I thank you all for taking them time to send them to me. So, now is the time to put them into action.

  1. I now have a scratchback widget on my sidebar and “tips” aka links are $5.00.
  2. I have added a donation button exclusively for the guitar fund. You can find a link to it at the top of any of my pages or here:
The donate button has been removed.  Thank you all for donating!!
  3. I have dug up some items to sell. First is a silver coin collection of 20 American Silver Eagles. Second is my Canon Rebel G 35mm camera. I also have a used black Razr and a used pink Razr. I’ll have to dig a few more things out, but I know I also have some scrapbooking items and some beading items. I’ll probably list these on eBay as soon as I can get the pictures uploaded, but if you’re interested in them before I post them, please contact me and make me an offer!
  4. I’ve been dumpster diving and pulling recycling out of the dumpsters in our apartment complex.
  5. If you’re in the US and you like Avon, you can shop from my website and I’ll receive a percentage of your sales. To get FREE SHIPPING, use code: REPFS
  6. I’ve started approaching family and friends about any kind of odd jobs that I can do for them. I am fortunate to have a variety of talents from computer work to fixing plumbing, so this will work if someone will just say YES!

This is still a work in progress so I’m coming up with new ideas all the time. I’ll be incredibly grateful for more ideas as the days go by. I’d really love to earn the money rather than ask for handouts, but I’m open to any help I can get! I can’t do this alone, so I ask….no, I BEG of you to please help me spread the word.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m looking forward to paying this forward someday.

There is a problem with the donate button code linking to PayPal. You need to fix that. Make sure you test it.

When you approach your friends, let me them know WHY you want to do the small jobs/&c. You might be surprised what jobs they can imagine, when they know it’s really to help a friend out.

Again, a small posting in the bulliten of local churches could help you out, in that same vein.
“Locals *your name here* and *his name here* recently had their car stolen, and inside, besides the books for his new classes, was his guitar, which he uses to teach lessons. In an effort to raise funds to buy him a replacement guitar, so he can get back to work, *your name* is hoping to do some odd jobs for people. *your name* has a large list of talents, and will consider almost any job. Please contact for more information”

Something along those lines, that might be helpful to have in your local churches, as i say. Even if you yourselves are not very religious, or members, local churches (most of them anyway) would love the opportunity to help out members of their local community. At least, they would here in WI.

      *** New Idea!
Do you live in a college town? Or NEAR a college? The kids will be graduating soon, and that means they throw away perfectly good items that are less then a year old, becuase it costs less to buy them new again then it does to store them till next year! (Around here, in Madison, we call this “Hippie St. Nick’s day”, as compared to “Hippie Christmas”, which is when the kids move out of their appartments in August) Wonderful items that you could maybe get some cash for, on Craig’s list, or Ebay. Again, don’t forget Craig’s list as a place to BUY a guitar as well!!!

All the luck in the world!

I’m a guitarist as well and can only imagine how hard this could be for him.
Happy to help — we guitarists have to stick together!

You can try giving these really nice folks a call. They give small grants in situations like these to pay for unexpected expenses to help folks from entering the poverty cycle. This includes maintaining vehicles for work and such. http://www.modestneeds.org/

      Craigslist has guitars…

I know it sucks to get an expensive guitar stolen when that’s your bread and butter…but ya gotta start somewhere to keep earning.

You can also monetize your blog with eBay listings as well. Write up some guitar-related posts, include guitar-related ebay items, and if someone signs up thru your affiliate link and bids, you get paid.

      Best of success to you,

      Barbara
